MyFeelings for My Second Hometown Wuxi
HIROTA RYUICHIRO(from Japan)
My hometown is Kyoto, Japan. Kyoto had been the capital for 1,200 years in the 2,000-year history of Japan. It is a famous historic and cultural city in Japan, and even the world. In addition, Kyoto has cultivated 9 Nobel Prize winners. It is an energetic city with the most advanced technologies.
It was ten years ago when I visited Wuxi for the first time. Till now, I still remember the heavies snow in 40 years in that winter. Roads were covered by snow and ice and became too slippery for both pedestrians and vehicles. I was impressed when I saw common people and soldiers of the people's liberation army cleaning snow from roads. Thanks to their hardworking, there was almost no snow on the road the next day and I could visit Lingshan by car and worship Grand Budda. I was touched by the service spirit of Wuxi people. Since then, I have regarded Wuxi as my second hometown.
Iattended Jiangsu Development Meeting in May of this year. Shanghai Municipal Party Secretary Mr. Li Qiang, who was Party Secretary of Jiangsu Province at that time, said, "people who love his hometown must love his country and vice versa." As what he said, I love Wuxi and China just like I love Kyoto and Japan.
There are 50 million tourists visiting Kyoto every year. As a tourism city, Kyoto has the charm of profound historical culture and its citizens have "service consciousness" because Kyoto had been the capital of Japan for 1,200 years. As a result, tourists feel comfortable in Kyoto. In addition, Kyoto also concentrates much efforts on landscaping including garbage disposal and river purification.
In my view, it is the good and livable environment that attracts tourists from all over the world to Kyoto even for more than one time. It has been almost ten years after the event of explosive growth of blue-green algae in Taihu Lake. Although the government has taken some measures, this issue has not been alleviated much. I sincerely hope that Wuxi will become a more beautiful city and its environment will be better. In this year, with the help of Japanese Government, I worked with the local government of Tieluqiao Village, Wuxi and built the circular process system of kitchen waste. I also hope a circular process system of blue-green algae will be set up in this village. Beside improving the environment, these systems can also help farmers become rich and attract more tourists to Wuxi. This complies with China's policies of agriculture, farmer and village.
Ilove my second hometown Wuxi now and for the rest of my life and I will respect and love China forever.
