AMD随着苏州工业园区的节拍起舞——在公司办公室里

　　苏州和我

　　我来自新加坡,从2004年被公司委派到AMD苏州,到现在,在苏州工作生活了整整13年。这么多年以来,已经习惯了苏州园区的生活,慢慢地真正地融入到这座城市当中。所以我给我这篇文章起名——《苏州,一个来了不想离开的城市》。

　　没来苏州之前,对她的了解,大多来自朋友的口述和书本的印象:2500年前,一座城市在江南崛起。她被称为江南鱼米之乡,文人笔下的小桥流水人家,充满着诗情画意而又经济富庶。时代变迁,潮起潮落,她随着历史的不断积淀,逐渐成为了江南的经济文化中心。

　　来到苏州以后,用心去经历和体会,才知道,她的种种,远比原来听到的更美。

　　我在苏州的工作

　　1994年,中国政府和新加坡政府决定展开合作,在苏州市区的东部打造一座具有国际竞争力的高科技工业园区。大批外企进驻,苏州经济开始了从乡镇企业向开放型经济的转型升级,成就了开放型经济发展的典范之作。不管是这里的基础设施规划、投资政策、还是政府的亲商服务理念,都为外企在这里大展拳脚提供了很多帮助。

　　作为第一批在园区投资的美国公司,AMD随着园区的节拍起舞,成就了一次又一次的突破和飞跃。直到2016年4月,AMD苏州实现了与南通通富微电的合作,成功设立了集成电路封测合资公司——苏州通富超威半导体有限公司。新合资公司的成立无论对于AMD、通富微电还是对于中国高端集成电路封测产品技术发展都具有深远的战略意义。

　　作为AMD苏州公司和现在通富超威的总经理,从2004年开始,我很庆幸自己有机会主导或参与了这一次次的改革、创新、发展,见证了一个又一个出色的亲商政策的出台。从一企一策,快速通关,到技术中心、智能车间的认证,绿色工厂的构建,园区政府给予了企业其他国家的政府所没有的支持,助力企业走上快速发展的道路。比如去年我们公司获评了“江苏省示范智能车间”、“江苏省工程技术研究中心”、“国家绿色工厂”等荣誉称号,不仅获得了政策上的扶持、资金上的奖励,也使公司的竞争力得到了提升。园区政府积极为企业营造利于发展的亲商环境,经常主动来公司了解企业的发展需求,给我们的项目申请提供了非常大的帮助。

　　我在苏州的生活

　　2004年,我的家人随我一起来到苏州工业园区,我们的生活,在这里翻开全新的篇章。苏州工业园区的成功之处,就在于这里对外国人的包容度、接受度很高,让人感觉全世界的精华,都被带到了这里。这里不但有中国特色,也有西方风情,这里的建筑格局,完全参照新加坡的城市建设,让我这个来自新加坡的外国人,恍惚间有种回到家乡的感觉。

　　我的家人们在苏州生活了数十年,我的三个孩子全部毕业于园区配套的新加坡国际学校,他们在这里得到了非常好的教育,同时还结交了来自全球很多国家的伙伴,现在如果他们要到全世界各地去旅游,要找朋友接待或一起出游,比我都容易。他们还一起到孤儿院做慈善,一起领养小朋友到家里,他们总是告诉我,苏州,就是第二个家。

　　春天的草长莺飞,夏日拙政园的满池荷花,中秋时分满城丹桂飘香,隆冬里腊梅独占雪的风姿,苏州,每一时每一景的美,都已经深深地刻在我的记忆里。就算哪天告老还乡,我想,我还是会怀念这里的人、这里的事、这里的美。

Suzhou, the city I don’t wanna leave

Suzhou And I

I am a Chinese from Singapore, living and working in Suzhou for 13 years since 2004. For many years, I has been used to the life of Suzhou industrial park and really blended among into the city. So I named my article - Suzhou, the city I don’t wanna leave.

When I was in Singapore, my understanding of Suzhou is from books and friends’ oral impression: 2500 years ago, a city rise in Jiangnan. She is known as land of fish and rice, with many bridges and rivers, full of poetic and prosperous economy. Time changes, with the continuous accumulation of history, she gradually became the Jiangnan economic and cultural center.

When I arrived in Suzhou and start to learn more and more about this city, I just realized that she is far more beautiful than the original heard.

My career in Suzhou

In 1994, the Chinese government and the Singapore government decided to co-operate and build the Suzhou Industrial Park in the east of Suzhou city. Large Numbers of foreign enterprises landed in the SIP, Suzhou economy started the transformation from the township enterprises to the open economy, and became the role model of the open economy development. The infrastructure construction planning, investment policy, and the government's pro-business service concept, all is to provide a lot of help for foreign companies to develop in the SIP.

As the first batch of American company that invested in the zone, AMD made breakthrough and leap again and again. In April 2016, AMD Suzhou and Nantong TFME established the joint venture company: TF-AMD Semiconductor co., LTD. The new joint venture company has far-reaching strategic significance for both AMD and TFME, as well as the development of high-end integrated circuit testing products and technology of China.

As the general manager of the previous AMD Suzhou and now TF-AMD Suzhou starting in 2004, I'm glad I had the opportunity to drive and participate in the reform, innovation and developmentand witnesspro-business policies introduced one after another. From one company one policy and fast clearanceto technicalcenter, smart workshop certification and green factory building, local government gave us tremendous support that governments in other countries could never ever gave. We won many honorarytitles like Jiangsu Model Smart Workshop, Jiangsu Engineering Technical Center and National Green Factory, which not only gained support politically and financially, but improved the company’s competitiveness as well. Giving much thought on building a pro-business environment, the zone administration asked for our needs and provided much help in project application.

My life in Suzhou

In 2004, my family moved to SIP together with me. Our life thereby opened a new chapter. The success of Suzhou industrial park, is the high tolerance and acceptance to foreigners; There is not only Chinese characteristics, but also mixed with the western, which let a person feel the essence of the world have been brought here.

They lived in Suzhou for decades, all my three kids graduated from the Singapore International school, where they received very good education, and made friends around the world. Now if they want to travel all over the world and want to find friends reception or travel together, they are easier than I. They also went to the orphanage to do charity together, adopted children to the home. They always tell me, Suzhou is the second home..

In the spring the grass sprout out of the earth, the summer the lotus fulfill the pool in humble administrator's garden, the Mid-Autumn night osmanthus fragrance diffuse all over the city, in winter the charming plum blossom in the snow. The scene of beauty of every Suzhou season has been deeply engraved in my memory. Even if one day I am going back to my hometown, I believe I will still miss here, everyone, everything and every beautiful days.
